Abstract
Summary
Guanadrel was evaluated for its cardiovascular profile and was found to possess properties which are desirable in the treatment of hypertension. The compound causes blockade of the sympathetic nerve ending and depletion of peripheral and “hypothalamic” catecholamines. Guanadrel does not deplete intestinal norepinephrine, which may be the reason for the fact that it does not produce diarrhea when administred experimentally or clinically.
