Abstract
Summary
The results of this in vitro study indicate that net Na transport in the ileum of the rat is not inhibited by doses of ethacrynic acid and an organomercurial diuretic which are double those pharmacologically employed to alter renal function; however, net Na transport is inhibited 35% by acetazolamide and chlorothiazide, and 20% by furosemide. These data suggest that Na transport in the rat's ileum involves at least two separate mechanisms.
