Abstract
Summary
Hepatectomy in the rat caused the disappearance of plasma renin substrate and a 100-fold increase in plasma renin. The effects were partially inhibited by nephrectomy. Partial hepatectomy caused an increase in renin and no change in substrate, while carbon tetrachloride caused a decrease in substrate and no change in renin. The last two procedures did not prevent the rise in substrate seen after nephrectomy or stilbestrol treatment.
