Abstract
Summary
A concentration of 0.4 ppm of SO2 in air is toxic for airborne Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis virus. When the SO2 is irradiated by either 40 or 308 mcal cm-min-1 of simulated solar radiation, the gas appears to interfere with the virucidal property of the light. This reaction is most marked with the 308 meal cm-2 min-1 level at 60% relative humidity, but it also occurs to a lesser extent with the 40 meal cm-2 min-1 intensity at both 30 and 60% RH.
