Abstract
Summary
Human costal cartilage residue, remaining after the extraction of the protein polysaccharide light portion, was solubilized either by autoclaving in acetate buffer at pH 7.0 or by hot trichloroacetic acid extraction. The human costal cartilage residue was composed of a carbohydrate-rich collagen, a non-collagenous protein polysaccharide, and a protein polysaccharide-collagen complex. All three components were ionically bound to the acid mucopolysaccharides.
