Abstract
Summary
Hydrocortisone, prednisolone, and dexamethasone given simultaneously with endotoxin were found to have a significant protective effect in mice, reducing mortality rate from 83% in control groups to about 20-25% in treated groups at optimum dose levels. Dexamethasone had the highest therapeutic index, as hydrocortisone and prednisolone were lethal at the higher dose levels.
