Abstract
Summary
Studies in three hypophysectomized monkeys revealed markedly reduced red cell volume, plasma volume, percentage of nucleated erythron in the bone marrow, and plasma erythropoietin activity. Corticosteroids and thyroxine, given alone or in combination, had no significant effect on these abnormalities; the combined growth hormone and thyroxine therapy, however, restored all the abnormalities to normal.
