Abstract
Summary
Hydrostatic pressures up to 41 atm had no significant immediate effect on the percentage of hemolysis of washed red cells when they were diluted with an equal volume of water. After prolonged exposures to pressures up to 540 atm there was a significant increase in hemolysis due to pressure which was 2-3 times greater at 6° than at 25°.
