Abstract
Summary
A reduction in total plasma proteins was observed in young zinc-deficient rats after 4 weeks on the experimental diet. Zinc deficiency also resulted in alterations in plasma protein patterns obtained by disc gel electrophoresis. These results were due to zinc deficiency, per se, and not due to inanition since neither pair-fed nor paired-weight controls showed these changes.
