Summary
The hypocalcemia activity of calcitonin preparations isolated from ovine thyroid slices incubated in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate buffer containing low and high concentrations of calcium was studied. Biosynthesis of calcitonin was found to be stimulated by high calcium concentration in the incubation medium. The secretion of calcitonin from the ovine thyroid slices was enhanced by calcium.
