Abstract
Summary
Ciguatera toxin causes a depolarization of the pedal ganglion cells of Aplysia Juliana. Accompanying the depolarization is a reduction in the firing rate of the cell and a replacement of pacemaker by synaptic activity. This observation provides additional evidence that pacemaker activity can be dissociated from membrane potential changes in particular experimental situations.
