Abstract
Summary
In the present paper the protein, RNA, and DNA content of anterior, middle, and posterior hypothalamus was studied in male and female rats. The protein content in the anterior hypothalamus is higher in male than in female rats. Similar values were observed in the middle and posterior hypothalamus between the groups. No sexual differences were found in the RNA and DNA content of the different hypothalamic areas. The relationships between these findings and the modifications in the hypothalamic content of the gonadotropin-releasing factors is discussed.
