Summary
Cholesterol esters were detected in myelin isolated from normal human white matter, histologically normal multiple sclerosis (MS) white matter and plaques. No differences from normal samples were found for the amount of cholesterol esters in myelin from MS tissue. The distribution patterns of fatty acids in the cholesterol esters were similar for all the samples analyzed.
