Abstract
Summary
Rat mammary glands which were excised and incubated in a medium containing 7,12-DMBA developed tumors after their reimplantation in the interscapular region of the back. The mammary tumor incidence in the autologously transplanted graft is parallel with the concentration of the carcinogen in the graft. The results indicate that the carcinogenic effect of 7,12-DMBA on the mammary gland is “direct” and not via the host.
