Abstract
Summary
The effects of phenoxybenzamine and propranolol on norepinephrine anti-ADH action were studied in water loaded rats. Norepinephrine blocked the ADH anti-diuresis. This norepinephrine effect was blocked by phenoxybenzamine but not by propranolol. These observations suggest that different adrenergic receptors may have differing functions in the kidney with the alpha receptors supporting an anti-ADH effect.
