Abstract
Summary
A high incidence of mortality apparently due to cardiac failure occurred within 28 days of feeding in immature rats fed massive doses of thyroid in conjunction with a low fat purified diet containing casein as the source of dietary protein and sucrose as the dietary carbohydrate. Substituting fish protein concentrate for casein in the above diet resulted in a highly significant reduction in mortality.
