Summary
The adrenal response to excess corticotropin (achieved either by its administration or by metyrapone-induced excess endogenous secretion) was found to be significantly reduced in the majority of individuals assessed as relatively prone to future incidence of clinical coronary heart disease when compared with the adrenal response of subjects believed to be relatively immune to the occurrence of the same disorder.
