Summary
The addition of quinidine sulfate to human platelet-rich plasma inhibited serotonin uptake by platelets and caused the release of serotonin from platelets. Kinetic data suggest that the inhibition of serotonin uptake is noncompetitive. The release of serotonin by quinidine can be prevented by lowering the temperature.
