Summary
The JBE virus showed partial CPE in KB cells. Cells not subject to the CPE grew continuously and entered a virus-carrying state. The JBE-carrying KB cell line was highly resistant to superinfection with EMC virus. The refractory state seems to be an intrinsic, noninterferon-mediated, interference.
