Abstract
Summary
Autoimmune responses to liver damage by CCl4 were induced in mice of three inbred strains, and tested for by complement fixation with liver homogenate. In 1-month-old mice, but not in adults, large strain differences were found: NZB having the highest titers, Balb c intermediate, and C57B1 the lowest; NZB mice also developed more immunofluorescent staining of the kidneys after CCl4. These results may have some bearing on the pathogenesis of the spontaneous autoimmune lesions in the NZB strain.
