Summary
L. casei and E. coli, growing in spermidine-free medium, synthesize considerable spermidine during the early phases of the growth cycle. As the cultures grow older the spermidine concentration in the cells falls again. In E. coli, the changes in spermidine concentration are parallel to changes in RNA concentration.
