Abstract
Summary
The temporal relations of protection by a glucocorticoid (Solu-Cortef), a cationic cyclic polypeptide (polymyxin B sulfate), and an N-alkyl substituted sympathomimetic (Isuprel) against a lethal effect of E. coli endotoxin was shown. Solu-Cortef was protective at least 24 hr before and 4 hr after endotoxin; polymyxin G sulfate, 6 hr before and 0.5 hr after endotoxin; and Isuprel, 1 hr before and after endotoxin.
