Abstract
Summary
Pilocarpine (20 mg diluted in 200 ml of normal saline), infused in 6 dogs for 40-min durations, caused a significant rise of amylase and lipase concentration in the serum and hepatic lymph collected in the portal area. In four pancreatectomized dogs, however, similarly treated with pilocarpine, there was no significant change in the amylase and lipase concentration of either the hepatic lymph or serum. Pilocarpine infusion did not cause any significant change in the hepatic lymph flow.
