Abstract
Summary
The purine analog, 6-mercaptopurine, failed to inhibit the synthesis and the action of interferon in primary chicken fetal cells. Actinomycin D, included as a positive control, completely blocked the synthesis and the action of interferon. Several aspects of host resistance to viral infection other than interferon are impaired by 6-mercaptopurine and delayed hypersensitivity may be the more important component.
