Abstract
Summary
Four hr following laparotomy stress to the intact rat the activity of liver tyrosine aminotransferase is increased two to threefold. Simultaneous removal of the adrenal prevents the increase. A marked repression of aminotransferase activity follows imposition of the same stress to rats adrenalectomized 1 week earlier. Hyperphysectomy eliminates some, but not all, of this laparotomy-induced repression in 1 week adrenalectomized rats.
