Abstract
Summary
Serum arginase activity in newborn calf, adult human, and adult horse sera was 0-1 μmoles of urea formed/hr/ml. In fetal calf serum, it is much higher and was observed to be 2-12 μmoles of urea formed/hr/ml. Thus in long term cultures in which fetal calf serum is used, arginine depletion may occur unless the media is changed frequently.
