Abstract
Summary
The effect of serum from normal humans and cancer patients on the kinetics of the in vitro hydrolysis of hyaluronic acid by testicular hyaluronidase (E.C. 3.2.1.35) was studied. In cancerous serum the presence of an inhibitory factor, distinct from the physiological hyaluronidase inhibitor, was demonstrated. This factor was absent from normal sera. It is thought to originate in the peritumoral connective tissue.
