Abstract
Summary
The ability to attack and destroy allogeneic kidney cells in tissue culture was transferred to previously unsensitized rabbit lymphoid cells by incubation in vitro with RNA extracted from the lymph nodes of a specifically sensitized animal. Brief incubation with small amounts of ribonuclease destroyed the ability of the RNA to mediate the apparent transfer of immune capability. The RNA active in the transfer of immunity was located within the 8-18S fraction after sucrose density-gradient ultracentrifugation.
