Abstract
Summary
Aerobic and anaerobic activity measured in heart homogenates were generally lower in trained rats than in controls. This depressed activity was not seen in non-trained animals subjected to a single bout of exercise or to chronic aortic coarctation of a degree to simulate “training” hypertrophy. The mildly trained heart also did not spare its endogenous glycogen, as might be expected, during acute exercise.
