Abstract
Summary
Anaerobic glycolysis rate was significantly higher in the thymuses of high-incidence leukemic mice (AKR) than in the thymuses of low-incidence leukemic mice (Ha/ICR). In addition, there was a marked decrease of anaerobic glycolysis rate in the thymuses of AKR mice at 1-6 days after inoculation of tumor (BW5147), in the absence of either hematologic or histologic evidence of tumor. From the sixth day after the inoculation, there was a gradual increase in rate. It is postulated that this alteration of anaerobic glycolysis in the thymus following inoculation of tumor might represent one of the earliest preleukemic changes in the AKR mouse.
