Summary
Intravenous inoculation with the T14 strain of Group A hemolytic streptococci caused lethal infection in 13 of 15 rhesus monkeys. Daily intragastric administration of 50 mg/kg in 2 divided doses of phenethicillin, lincomycin, triacetyloleandomycin, erythromycin estolate, and erythromycin ethylsuccinate was followed by mortalities in 1 of 8, 1 of 8, 3 of 15, 5 of 11, and 7 of 11, respectively.
