Abstract
Summary
BALB/c male mice, given 100 μg of norethynodrel-mestranol daily, showed seminal vesicle and prostate atrophy after 15 days and interstitial cell atrophy after 30 days; spermatogenesis was not inhibited until 60 days. Adrenals showed hypertrophy of the zona fasciculata and reticularis at all times. Mammary duct systems developed in most animals but, even with 60 days' administration, had few alveoli. The hormone combination appears to inhibit LH secretion initially but not to affect FSH secretion until later; LTH release does not appear to be stimulated.
