Summary
The amylase precipitin arc in immunoelectropherograms of whole human saliva can be identified directly using starch and Lugol's iodine to demonstrate its enzymatic activity. By precisely locating the amylase line and indicating its relative concentration this method revealed amylase to be a prominent arc in the immunoglobulin area of saliva immunoelectropherograms.
