Abstract
Summary
Dimethyl sulfoxide, in sufficient concentration, inhibited uptake of 131I by mouse thyroids in vitro. Both active transport and organification of 131I appeared to be affected. The inhibitory effect was readily reversed by washing the thyroids in saline. In vivo, a slight, transient, depression of 131I thyroidal uptake was found.
