Summary
The growth of Sindbis, pseudorabies, and vaccinia viruses in primary chick embryo cultures was notably inhibited by 10-2 M SHA but this is probably due to a nonspecific toxic effect. At 10-3 M SHA selectively inhibited DNA synthesis in uninfected cells and impaired the growth of only the DNA viruses.
