Abstract
Summary
A bovine rhinovirus was isolated from an apparently normal calf in BEK cell cultures. The virus was found to contain RNA, was 25-27 mμ in diameter, acid labile, chloroform resistant, and was stabilized against thermal inactivation by molar MgCl2. The virus grew slightly better in 33°C than at 37°C. The virus was serologically related to 2 German isolates. Antibody to the bovine rhinovirus isolate was highly prevalent in the cattle population of the State of Maryland.
