Abstract
Summary
Mitochondria were isolated from the pectoralis major muscle of normal and genetically dystrophic New Hampshire cockerels. The mitochondria were incubated in Tris-buffered KCl solution and the rate of efflux of soluble protein was measured and compared with the amount of protein released from mitochondria of the same isolate by Triton X-100. The efflux of protein from the mitochondria of dystrophic muscle was significantly greater than that from normal muscle.
