Inhibition of DNA Synthesis in Sarcoma-180 Tumor Cells in Vitro by Dimethyl Sulfoxide ∗

Summary

DMSO was found to inhibit DNA synthesis in S-180 ascites tumor cells in vitro. This inhibition was a linear function of DMSO concentration from 5 to 15% (v/v). Removal of the DMSO resulted in an immediate restoration of the capacity for TdR-³H incorporation.
