Abstract
Summary
Under laboratory conditions the percentage of ovulations in rabbits may be increased significantly (p < 0.01) by an intravenous injection of human chorionic gonadotrophin in addition to the natural stimulus of copulation. In particular this treatment is useful for does of poor reproductive performance. It is suggested that such procedures only be used for short-term experimental problems, since the effects of repeated usage of HCG are as yet unknown. The data show that failure to ovulate following copulation is a major factor in rabbit infertility.
