Abstract
Summary
The concentration of Mg and Ca were measured in the plasma, ultrafilterable plasma, and cisternal cerebrospinal fluid of young and mature rats using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Aging had no effect on any of the results. The CSF-Mg exceeded UF-Mg, and CSF-Ca was less than UF-Ca, indicating the existence of a blood-CSF concentration gradient for these cations in the rat.
