Abstract
Conclusion
Delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA), a precursor of heme synthesis, was found to be present in normal amounts in the urine of patients without demonstrable erythropoiesis. The presence of true ALA in the urine of these patients was confirmed by a new method using an automatic amino-acid analyzer. By this method, the interfering substances such as glucosamine and amino acetone were eliminated.
