Summary
The REF is located primarily in the light mitochondrial fraction and, to a lesser extent, in the microsomal fraction of kidneys from rats rendered hypoxic for 18 hours. This factor has been purified approximately 230-fold by ammonium sulfate precipitation, DEAE-cellulose column chromatography and Sephadex gel filtration.
