Summary
The protein fractions present in fetal lung fluid were determined by means of cellulose acetate and immunoelectrophoresis. Proteins with identical electrophoretic mobility to that of sheep albumin and α globulins were detected in all; prealbumin, beta and gamma globulins were observed in some. An unidentified γ globulin other than γ G-globulin was shown to be present in fetal lung fluid and absent in fetal serum. The α2 globulins in fetal lung fluid were found in a concentration which exceeds that of the serum. The local synthesis of both proteins in the lung is suggested.
