Abstract
Summary
Immune guinea pig gamma2-globulin is cytotoxic in vitro for tumor cells in the presence of guinea pig complement. F(ab')2 antibody fragments, prepared by pepsin degradation of the gamma2-globulin, are not cytotoxic. Preincubation of tumor cells with F(ab')2 fragments blocks the cytotoxic activity of gamma2-globulin in high F(ab')2/globulin ratios. The implication of these findings for immunologic enhancement of tumors is discussed.
