Abstract
Summary
Two simian adenoviruses, SA7 and SV20, induced transformation of newborn-hamster kidney cells in vitro. The transformation was characterized by an increased growth potential of the cells, a change in morphology of the cells, the production of a new T-antigen within the transformed cells, the production of tumors in hamsters by inoculation of the cells, and the appearance of complement-fixing antibodies to T-antigen in animals which developed tumors. These new T-antigens are virus specific.
