Summary
Chickens were thymectomized during the first 72 hours of life. Controls were intact or sham-operated chickens of the same age. All chickens were simultaneously inoculated with Rous sarcoma virus at the age of 10-12 days. Thymectomy had a stimulating effect on induction of the Rous sarcomas and tumor growth rate.
