Abstract
Summary
Large amounts of insulin appear in the bile of rabbits after i.v. administration of 2 mg (50 IU) of bovine insulin. Insulin was recovered from the bile also after the administration of heterologous insulin in low concentrations. The hormone concentration in the bile reached a peak in the first 30 minutes after i.v. injection of insulin, showing that the bile is avenue for the loss of insulin from the circulation.
