Abstract
Summary
Using polarographic techniques, pO2 was measured in vivo in the peritoneal cavity of adult rats before and after transplantation of Yoshida ascites hepatoma. It was found that the pO2 in ascites hepatoma undergoes a progressive lowering during the growth of the tumor. While relatively small tumors are not subjected to a substantial oxygen shortage, oxygen supply becomes progressively more inadequate in the late stages of tumor life.
