Summary
The virus of St. Louis encephalitis was isolated from the brain of an abnormally-behaving California gray fox, Urocyon cinereoargenteus, shot July 27, 1957 in Amador County, California. This represents one of the first known isolations of this virus from a naturally-infected mammal other than man.
