Summary
The basic conclusion of this report is that irradiated hibernating ground squirrels do not respond as “active” animals following arousal as has been hitherto re-ported, rather, there is a protective effect relatable to hibernation. The hibernators have a longer “mean survival time” and an increased LD50 (30).
